1. Privacy Policy
1.1 Purpose of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the Chrome extension Google Sign-out Button Blocker (the "Extension"). It explains how the Extension handles data, including collection, use, retention, and protection.
1.2 Product Function
The Extension is designed to reduce accidental sign-outs by hiding sign-out entries inside account menus on supported Google and YouTube domains. Users can enable or disable the feature in the popup and can temporarily pause it for 10 minutes, after which it automatically resumes.
1.3 Scope
This policy applies only to the Extension itself. It does not apply to Google, YouTube, Ko-fi, Discord, or any other third-party websites, services, or their privacy practices.
2. Types of Data Collected, Used, and Retained
2.1 No Direct Collection of Personal Identifiable Information
The Extension does not require account registration and does not request your name, email address, phone number, physical address, government ID, payment information, passwords, cookies, credit card details, or message content.
2.2 Local Settings Stored in Chrome storage.local
The Extension stores only the settings needed for functionality in your local browser:
- (a) enabled: whether the sign-out blocking feature is turned on.
- (b) disableUntil: the expiration timestamp for temporary pause mode.
These values are used only to control feature behavior and do not identify you as an individual.
2.3 In-Page Real-Time Processing
To determine whether an item is a sign-out action, the Extension inspects limited DOM signals on supported pages, such as visible labels, href values, and ARIA labels. This analysis occurs locally in memory for immediate UI behavior and is not uploaded to external servers.
3. Purpose of Use and Legal Basis
3.1 Purposes of Use
The Extension uses data only to:
- (a) enable, disable, or temporarily pause sign-out button blocking.
- (b) synchronize status across popup UI and content scripts, including countdown display.
- (c) apply updated settings across the active tab and its frames in real time.
3.2 Legal Basis (Where Applicable)
Where data protection laws apply, processing is based on providing the functionality you requested and the legitimate interest of maintaining core product operation.
4. Permission Use Disclosure
4.1 storage Permission
Used to store `enabled` and `disableUntil` so your selected state and temporary pause timing can persist locally.
4.2 tabs Permission
Used to find matching tabs and send state refresh messages so setting changes take effect immediately.
4.3 webNavigation Permission
Used to enumerate frame IDs inside a tab so the same settings are applied consistently across frames.
4.4 Host Permissions
The Extension currently runs only on these host patterns:
- (a) `*://google.com/*`
- (b) `*://*.google.com/*`
- (c) `*://youtube.com/*` and `*://*.youtube.com/*`
5. Data Transfer, Sharing, and Disclosure
5.1 No Sale, Rental, or Broker Sharing
The Extension does not sell, rent, or trade personal data and does not provide personal data to data brokers.
5.2 No Automatic External Data Transmission
The Extension does not include telemetry, analytics tracking, or automatic data upload. Data in local settings remains local unless you voluntarily open an external link (such as Donate or Discord) from the popup.
6. Retention and Deletion
6.1 Retention Period
`enabled` and `disableUntil` remain in your local browser until you change them, clear extension-related browser data, or uninstall the Extension.
6.2 Deletion Methods
You can remove Extension data by:
- (a) uninstalling the Extension from your browser.
- (b) clearing browser extension data or site data.
- (c) disabling the feature and allowing temporary pause timers to expire.
7. Security Measures
7.1 Practical Security Limits
The Extension follows a data-minimization design and stores only necessary local settings. While reasonable safeguards are used, no software or device environment can guarantee absolute zero risk.
8. Children's Privacy
8.1 Age Statement
The Extension is not directed to children and is not intended to knowingly collect children's personal data.
9. Third-Party Services and External Links
9.1 External Link Notice
The popup may include optional links to third-party services (for example, Ko-fi and Discord). If you choose to open those links, any data handling on those services is governed by their own policies, not this Extension's local behavior.
10. User Rights and Controls
10.1 What You Can Control
You can enable, disable, or temporarily pause the Extension at any time, and you can uninstall it to stop all processing. Because the Extension does not maintain server-side user accounts, data control is primarily managed through local settings and uninstallation.
11. Policy Updates
11.1 Update Method
If product functionality or data practices materially change, this policy will be updated and the effective date will be revised. You should review this page after version updates.
12. Contact
12.1 General Contact
If you have questions about this policy, you may contact the developer through the support channels provided by the Extension (for example, the Discord link).
